Kempthorne House is a distinguished 18th century village house. It is reputed locally that the house was built by Captain Kempthorne in 1770, a Packet Ship Captain, who came from an old West Country family with a long and distinguished history of naval service.

Flushing is quiet harbour side village, reputed to be the warmest village in England, due to its own micro climate created by it's sheltered south-west aspect.

It has all facilities expected in a village, including a couple of shops, post office, two pubs and a restaurant; and its own safe bathing beach. The daily Flushing ferry service will take you on a short trip across the river Fal to the busy town of Falmouth with many excellent shops and restaurants. A short walk through Falmouth will bring you to highly acclaimed National Maritime Museum.

The National Maritime Museum, Pendennis Castle, the beautiful gardens of Trelissick, Trebar and Glendurgan are all close at hand. The Eden Project and The Tate Gallery at St. Ives are no more than an hour's drive. The famous outdoor Minnack Theatre and Land's End are slightly more than an hour; and of course the spectacular coastline is on our doorstep.
